Mrs. Olive Smeltzer, 75, of 103 East Canal Street, Dover, died at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 1974, in the Memorial Osteopathic Hospital in York. She had been in failing health since December 2.
Born March 5, 1898, in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, she was a daughter of William and Rebecca (McIlnay) Weimert. She was married to Charles M. Smeltzer, who passed away October 30, 1970.
Surviving are a son, Arleigh, of Dover, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Tangeman, of Dayton, Ohio, as well as a grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smeltzer left three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Zelva Eichner and Mrs. Flora Howington, both of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Laura Border, Hopewell, and Wilmer, Stevensville, Ohio.
The deceased was of the Grace Brethren faith. She was employed for many years at the Everett Sewing Factory, prior to her retirement.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 1974, at the Masood Funeral Chapel in Saxton. The Rev. Bernard Wynn officiated, and Burial was in the Reformed Cemetery, Yellow Creek.
She was Charles Smeltzer's second wife. Charles' first wife was Olive's sister, Flora.
