CAMDEN — Mabel E. Sloper, 74, of Florence Hill Road, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Oneida HealthCare Center. She was born May 30, 1934, in Empeyville, NY, a daughter of Carl & Jennie Dunn Armstrong. On July 1, 1952, she married George A. Sloper in Westdale, NY; he passed away September 12, 1992.

Mabel was a member of the United Methodist Church, Camden, NY, and sang with the ‘MissChords' directed by Dave Smith of Westdale. She loved knitting, crocheting, embroidery and made many baby blankets for family members. Mabel was a bird watcher, especially in the winter months.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy & Tom Kellogg, Altmar, NY; a son, Rick & Lisa Sloper, Camden; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Robert ‘Bob' Armstrong, Redfield, Howard Armstrong, Harold ‘Red' & Diane Armstrong, Camden; two sisters-in-law, Gail Armstrong and Jan Sloper; a brother-in-law, John ‘Gene' Scofield; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Betty Scofield, two brothers, Joseph Armstrong, James Armstrong and a sister-in-law, Joyce Armstrong. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oneida HealthCare ECF and ICU staff and nurses.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY, with interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
