John Willie Sloas, 83, Route 1, Webbville, died Monday at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Sloas was born April 3, 1894, in Elliott County, a son of the late Samuel and Margaret Wells Sloas. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War 1.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Allie Mae Pennington Sloas; five sons, Johnny and Carl Sloas, both of Route 1, Webbville, Lowell Sloas of Grayson, Elwood Sloas of Falkville, Ala., and Leroy Sloas of Route 1, Paintlick; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Whitt and Mrs. Mary Ison both of Route 1 Sandy Hook, and Mrs. Ruth Thomas of Willard; two sisters, Mrs Bessie Cox fo Lucasville, Ohio, and Mrs Eva McDavid of Cincinnati, Ohio; 38 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by the Rev. Marvin Hunnicutt and Elder Everett Slone. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
The body is at the funeral home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
