Mrs. Shrout was born on Feb. 18, 1930, in Titusville, a daughter of the late Hugh and Mabel Osborne Sloan. She was married to James E. Shrout on June 23, 1947, in Titusville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2007.
Mrs. Shrout was a graduate of Colestock High School. Mrs. Shrout was a member of Titusville First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her husband while fishing and hunting.
She is survived by a brother, Robert H. Sloan and wife, Gwendolyn, of Lake Frederick, Va.; close friends Jeff and Jean Roberts, of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James E. Shrout Jr., and a sister, Colleen Landacre.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and attend the funeral service there on Monday, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ron Hipwell, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
