Mary Harbison Slaughter, 96, a greatly loved, godly woman, moved from this life to her new life with the Lord, peacefully at her home.
Born on a West Texas ranch, she grew up in Bellevue before attending and receiving a degree from the College of Industrial Arts for Women in Denton [Texas Women's University]. She taugh in Bellevue and Graham until 1935 when she married Gibbs Slaughter of Dallas. The couple began their married life in Athens before moving to Fort Worth in 1940.
Mary was a loving, gracious, generous person who created a rich, nourishing environment for those whom God placed around her. She was a longtime faithful member of University United Methodist Church.
Survived by her children - Mary Ann Slaughter Wallin and Gibbs M. Slaughter, Jr; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; by one granddaughter; and one son-in-law.
