Bobby Dean Slaughter, 76, died Saturday, November 1, 2014. Mr. Slaughter was the son of the late Daniel Francis and Helen Dorothy Dickerson Slaughter.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Blake Slaughter, a brother, Daniel (Danny) Ray Slaughter, and two sisters, Mary Frances Slaughter Howell Sligh and Rebecca Ann Slaughter Oliver.

Mr. Slaughter retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company after more than 30 years as a machinist and was a member of the IAM Machinist Union. Mr. Slaughter was a member of Gateway Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School superintendent and was a former deacon.

Mr. Slaughter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Alice Thomas Slaughter; his children, Sheila Dean Slaughter Compton and husband Garry, of Rougemont, Mitchell Anthony Slaughter and wife Annette, of Roxboro and Terry Lynn Slaughter Davis and husband Hank, of Leasburg; one brother, Marshall Lee Slaughter and wife Connie, of Roxboro; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2PM, Monday, November 3, 2014, at Gateway Baptist Church by the Rev. Ken Childers. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery.
