Charles R. Skidmore, Jr., age 77, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Maude Skidmore and his brother, Steve Skidmore. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Skidmore; sons, Chip Skidmore and his wife, Kathy of Lawrenceville, GA; Tim Skidmore and his wife, Karen of Monroe, GA; and Kent Skidmore and his wife, Laura of Johns Creek, GA; brothers, Bruce Skidmore and his wife, Kay of Charleston, SC; Bill Skidmore and his wife, Becky ; John Skidmore and his wife, Mary and Dale Skidmore and his wife, Beverly, all of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren: Corey, Andrew, Chris, Carson, Jack and Caroline Skidmore.

Charles was born March 31, 1935 in Hickory, NC. He graduated from Central High School, Charlotte, NC, class of 1953. He furthered his education at The Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he graduated in 1957. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. He accepted the call into Christian ministry in 1971, graduating from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY, with a Masters in Religious Education. He served churches in Columbus, Fayetteville, Chamblee and Rex, GA. Charles later served 20 years with the Georgia Baptist Convention where he retired in 1998. After retirement, he served as a docent at the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, GA.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 2 o'clock at Johns Creek Baptist Church, 6910 McGinnis Ferry Road, Alpharetta, GA, with Rev. David White and Dr. Bill Self officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 2 o'clock at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charles' memory can be made to Johns Creek Baptist Church or Jimmy Carter Library and Museum, 441 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30307.
