"Mrs. Lula Choate, 83
Services for Mrs. Lula Skelton Choate, 88, of Wrigley, who died Friday, May 27 at the Hickman County Hospital, were held Sunday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville conducted by the Rev. Tom Smith and the Rev. Tim Hoover. Burial was in the Wrigley Cemetery.
Mrs. Choate was a native of Wayne County and a daughter of the late James Lee Grant and Roda Higgins Skelton. She was married to the late Vernie Lee Choate.
She was a housewife and an active member of the Wrigley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sandy Bryant, Centerville, and Mrs. Alvena Hudspeth, Wrigley; five sons, Zertie Choate, Wrigley, Harding Choate and Willie Choate, both of Centerville, Harold Choate, Lyles, and Lewis Choate, Rampa, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Sharpe and Mrs. Asille Cotham, both of Hohenwald, and Mrs. Isabelle Slaughter, Huntsville, Ohio; four half-brothers, James Skelton, Centerville, Raymond Skelton, Virginia, Howard Skelton, Ohio, and Leo Skelton, Mississippi; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren."
