Mrs. Cora E. Simpson, 69, a Fairfield woman, the widow of Paris "Bolivar" Simpson, died at 1:10 p.m., Monday at Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Simpson had been in declining health for several years, suffering from emphysema and other complications, her family said. She was admitted to way-Fair Restorium just a few days before her death.
Services were conducted Wednesday at the Johnson funeral Home in Fairfield, with Rev. Fred White officiating. Burial was in the Koontz Cemetery south of Fairfield.
Mrs. Simpson was born in Wayne County June 14, 1911, the daughter of John and Ida (Pennington) Baker she was married to Paris Simpson, who preceded her in death Mar. 28, 1951.
Mrs. Simpson worked for 20 years in Fairfield area restaurants. She helped operate the West End Cafe.
She had resided in the Fairfield High Rise Apartments for about a year., but the last six months, she had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Tjaden of Geff.
Surviving are four sons, Paris of Fairfield, John of Florence, Ala; Don of Mansfield, LA; and Robert Baker of Tallahassee, Fla; one daughter, Mary Tjaden, of Geff; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Frank Baker of fairfield, and two sisters, Mrs. James (Madge) Mason of Fairfield, and Marsha Case, of Arcadia, Fla.
