Born in Theresa, 6 Dec 1904, a son of George and Florence [Sprague] Simonds, he attended Philadelphia High School and Canton ATC. He married Helen Virginia Mills in August 1941 at the United Church of Richville, with Rev. J.W. Burston officiating.
The couple lived in Sackets Harbor where they operated the Quality Ice Cream business for several years. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1963 and were the owner-operators of a Mister Donut shop. The couple retired to St. Petersburg in 1970.
He was a member of the Sackets Harbor Masonic Lodge 135 F&AM and the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg.
Surviving him are his wife, Helen, St. Petersburg; a son Gil C., Atlanta, GA.; two daughters, Marion S. Bryan, St. Petersburg, and Cheryl Walker, Gulf Breeze, FL; five grandchildren; three brothers, Roy and Ernest, both of Watertown, and Claude, Philadelphia; and three sisters, Stella Cooke, Sarasota, FL, and Luella Cornwell and Pearl Watts, both of Watertown.
A memorial service was held on Nov. 15 at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg. The body was cremated.
