Dona Marie Simms Pratt, 84, of West Lafayette, died at 11:40 PM Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, in Westminster Village. She had been ill from Alzheimer's disease for two years. She was born June 21, 1917, in Pratt, KS, and lived there until moving to Salem, IL, in 1937. She moved to West Lafayette in 1999. On May 1, 1927, she married Carl Pratt in Pratt, KS, and he survives.

Mrs. Pratt graduated from Pratt High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed golfing and bowling. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church where she served as a nursery Sunday school teacher for 50 years, Salem Women's Club, Lioness Club, Salem Country Club, Order of Eastern Star, Order of Rebeccas, and served on the Community Beautification Committee.

Surviving with her husband are her daughter-in-law, Barbara Pratt (Mrs. David) Francis of West Lafayette, with whom she resided; a sister, Nadine (Mrs. John) Chitwood of Pratt; a brother, Robert Simms (wife Joan) of Salina, KS; three grandchildren, Carolyn (Mrs. Charles) Baranowski of Milwaukee, WI; Phillip Pratt (wife Diane) of Madison, WI; Kathryn (Mrs. Bradley) Bodine of Lafayette; two step-grandchildren, Amy (Mrs. Jeff) Barron of Chicago, and Ben Francis of Lafayette; three great-grandchildren, Blake and Ellen Baranowski and Jared Pratt. Preceded in death by her son, Thomas Garry Pratt, her parents and three brothers. Private family graveside service will be held, the Rev. Daniel P. May officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
