Although Mary Etta uses the maiden name of Silvers, on the 1900 census she is listed as Mary Rogers. Her mother, Lucinda McLain was married to John Rogers in 1896 in Gladwin, Michigan and that is where Mary was born. Lucinda married Mark Silvers in 1899 in Paulding, Ohio.
Mary was first married to Slane Harmon. They had one daughter, Melba Louise Harmon.

Mrs. William J. Cassiday, 56, was killed last Wednesday when she and her three-year-old granddaughter were trapped in the burning Cassiday home in Wabash, Indiana. Origin of the fire was unknown. Mr. Cassiday, who leaped from an upstairs window, is in critical condition in a hospital. Mary Etta Silvers Cassiday was born in Gladwin on September 23, 1897, the daughter of Rev. Mark and Lucy Silvers. She had lived in Wabash for 25 years after marrying Mr. Cassiday on March 24, 1923. Surviving are her husband five sons and five daughters, including one stepson, Leo Cassiday, of Harrison; also eight grandchildren.
