Word has been received of the death yesterday of Mrs. Anna Silvernail Avery, 73, formerly of 110 DeWitt Road, Syracuse, in LaJolla, Calif.
Born in Gloversville, Mrs. Avery graduated from Mt. Holyoke College and Columbia University, and taught mathematics in Scotia and Gloversville.
Mrs. Avery was the widow of Royal A. Avery, a widely known mathematician and author of geometry textbooks.
While in Syracuse, Mrs. Avery was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was affiliated with Asa Danforth Chapter of the DAR, Colony of New England Women, Delta Upsilon Women's Club, Harmony Circle of Syracuse Memorial Hospital, Mt. Holyoke Club, Ladies of Rotary and Corinthian Club.
Surviving are several cousins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fairchild & Meech Funeral Home, 4810 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt, the Rev. Dr. William H. McConaghy officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
