Rosanna M. Silva, age 85, of Las Vegas, NM, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
Rosanna was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alfonso Silva, her parents, Juan Antonio Ulibarrí and Manuelita Martínez Ulibarrí and two brothers, Doroteo Ulibarrí and Joe Ulibarrí.
Rosanna is survived by her seven children, Gerald (Kathy), Herman, Fred (Nadine), Ruth Johnson (Willie Crespín), Dennis (Loretta), Bernadette Loera (Michael) and Eric (Coleen Ortiz), nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Rosanna is also survived by five sisters, Cleo Embrich, Isaida Salazar, Alice Logan (Glen), Ursinia Trujillo and Jane Romero (Eloy), one brother, Filiberto Ulibarrí (Domi) and their families and numerous relatives.
Rosanna taught elementary school for 35 years, mostly at North Public in Las Vegas. Rosanna was known for her no-nonsense and high-expectations teaching style. Many of her students later thanked her. Many also asked if she remembered them - she did. Her volunteer work included Catholic Daughters, Cub Scouts, American Cancer Society and rescuing stray cats.
Her quick wit, dry sense of humor, humility, integrity, inner strength. and genuine friendship will be greatly missed. Rosanna was a treasure.
Visitation will be from Monday thru Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Rogers Chapel, 600 Reynolds Ave. in Las Vegas. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Douglas Mitchell as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
