Mary Lou Barnette, 74, of Charleston passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
Born August 10, 1934, in Widen, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Ethel Young Sigman.
Mary was retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education, was a member of Spring Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Campbells Creek, and gave to a wide variety of charities faithfully.
Her loving husband, Wilbur Eugene Barnette; brothers, Ronny, Keith and Rodney Sigman; and a sister, Brenda Sigman, preceded her in death.
She survived by her daughter, Cathy Cutcher of Charleston; sons, Daniel Glen Barnette of Gap Mills and David Brian Barnette of Charleston; mother-in-law, Gustava Bodkins of Kenna; sisters, Emma Jo (Gerald) Kyer of Morgantown, Lois (Jim) Browning of Strange Creek, Betty (Jerry) Fizer of Marysville, Ohio, Judy (Russell) Powell of Dumfries, Va., Linda Sigman of Charleston and Phyllis Ball of Bloomingrose; brother, Wayne "Porter" Sigman of Charleston; sisters-in-law, Karen Sigman of Charleston and Nancy Sigman of Ivydale; grandchildren, Chad Barnette and fiancee, Peggy Deese, and Amber Michelle Smith; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Lily Barnette; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Mike Long officiating. The committal service will be 2 p.m. in Walker Cemetery, Keener Ridge, Braxton County.
