Bessie Shurtleff Lucas, age 91, passed away October 1, 2007 in Salt Lake City. She was born July 6, 1916 in Salt Lake City to Fred M. and Gladys Pond Shurtleff. She married George Lucas September 14, 1938 in Salt Lake City. Bessie loved her children and was a stayhome mom until they were raised. She worked at First Security Bank until her retirement at age 72. She was a proud member of the Ladies of Elk, serving as treasurer for many years. Bessie loved to bowl, play bingo and travel. An Australian cruise was her favorite. She was a member of the LDS Church.

She is survived by a son, Steven; and wife, Patricia; daughter-inlaw, Judy Hofhine Lucas; 14 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; nieces, Kathleen and Donna; and nephews, Michael and Larry. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Gayle Kingston; son, Robert F.; and sisters, Helen and Kathryn.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, October 10, 11 a.m. in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South.
