In the early 1800's, Peyton had moved his family to Carlisle, Kentucky where he purchased the first brick building in the county from the town founder, Samuel Kincart. For several years, he ably ran a hotel in that converted brick farmhouse. Peyton and his wife, Mary, raised the following six daughters here: Eliza Adair, Mary D., Julia Ann, Amanda Melissa, Susan and Isabella. Eventually, Peyton moved his family to Bourbon County where he lived on and ran his personal farm until his death in June of 1845.
