Mr. Shown was born April 23, 1934, in Rockingham County, to the late Hobart Shown and Nettie Chatman Shown. He was retired from Carolina Loom & Reed and a member of Oasis Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Stevens Shown; infant son, Steven Franklin Shown; and brothers, William and Thomas Shown.
Survivors include a daughter and one grandson. He has one brother and one sister surviving.
