The daughter of the late Everett and Jeanett (Griffon) Sholes, Doris was born November 17, 1918 in Norwich, CT. She was married to the late William Argenio.
She is the last of 9 children and the only one to have lived to this wonderfully youthful age of 97. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed. She was a member of St. George’s Church, a member of the altar guild, and a volunteer for the food pantry.
Doris is survived by her son and daughter in law: Richard and Laura Argenio at home; her grandchildren: Michael Argenio and his wife Deanna of Middletown, NY, Cathleen Eisgruber and her husband Richard of Shelbyville, IN, and Scott Argenio and his wife Jennifer of Vinton, VA; her great grandchildren: Joseph and Tyler Eisgruber of Shelbyville, IN and Cole and Madeline Argenio of Vinton, VA; her great- great granddaughter Vivian Eisgruber; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband William, she was predeceased by her daughter Carol Corwin, her daughter in law Pat Argenio, and her brothers: Roland, Clarence, and Robert; and her sisters: Mildred, Viola, Beatrice, Gladys, and Arlene.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4 from 6-8pm at Brooks Funeral Home. 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at St. George’s Church, 105 Grand St. Newburgh, on Saturday, December 5, at 10am. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
