Buena married Tom W. Bouchier in 1926. One son, Ronald Lou Bouchier (1932-2014).

Buena died at age 98.

BUENA VISTA SHIRLEY BOUCHIER, age 98, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2002, at University Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas.

Mrs. Bouchier was born in Roby, Texas, October 22, 1903, and moved to Post, Texas from Vernon, Texas with her late parents, George and Susie Hitt Shirley and late brothers, George and Joe Shirley. After graduating from Post High School in 1921, she attended the College of Industrial Arts, and received her state teaching certificate from West Texas State University at Canyon, Texas. She taught school in the Verbena and Garnolia communities and in Post before her marriage in 1926 to the late Tom W. Bouchier. Mrs. Bouchier was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church and was a dedicated Sunday School teacher. She worked as a bookkeeper for many of the sixty years her husband, Tom, managed the Higginbotham-Bartlett Lumber Company in Post. She and her husband were active in many community organizations during their long lives in West Texas, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Ronald L. Bouchier and wife, Linda, of Houston, Texas; foster daughter, Yolanda Amado and husband, Julio, of Panama City, Panama, and San Jose, Costa Rica; grandchildren, Ryla B. Bouchier of Houston, Texas, Ronald Lew Bouchier of Austin, Texas, Thomas Blair Bouchier and wife, Janice, of Houston, Texas; and great-great-granddaughter, Catherine Nicole Bouchier of Houston, nieces, nephews, grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friend, Nancy Gordon, of Post, Texas, and her children, Doug, Maggie, Nick and Abby Flanigan.

The body will lie in state beginning Sunday, June 2, at Justice-Mason Funeral Home, 302 W. Main Street, Post, Texas, 765-8853. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 402 West Main, Post, Texas, followed by interment at Terrace Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers are Blair Bouchier, Lew Bouchier, Doug Flanagan, Nick Flanagan, Mark Kirkpatrick, Drew Kirkpatrick, Lee Norman, and Bob Collier as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Buena Bouchier may be sent to the First Baptist Church, 402 W. Main Street, Post, Texas 79356, or to the Christian School, First Baptist Church, 402 W. Main Street, Post, Texas 79356.
