Arthur Jackson Shinn, age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet, of Cassel, California; his son George, of Ledbetter, Kentucky; his daughter Rebecca (Steven) Burmahl, of Cassel; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Arthur was born May 21, 1928 in Fresno, California, to parents Edward and Emma Shinn. He was a Marine who served in the Korean War. Arthur worked as a logger and heavy equipment operator and was a 52 year member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #3. He retired in 1990 at which time he moved to the Intermountain Area.

Arthur enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time on the Northern California coast. He was an avid supporter and volunteer for the Cassel Volunteer Fire Department’s Auxiliary.

His family and friends will remember him as a strong, gentle, hard working, quiet man.

No funeral is scheduled at this time.
