Betty Selph, 78, of Canton, IL, formerly of Rushville, IL., passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 9:30 pm after a 5 year battle with cancer.

She was born June 12, 1934, in Galesburg, IL the daughter of LeRoy and Hazel (Severns) Shinn. Betty married Leroy Selph on March 31, 1951. He survives.

Also surviving are her daughter, Rebecca (David) Wheeler of Canton; two grandchildren, Stacey Marlette and fiancée, Tony Newton of Canton and Ben (Carrie) Wheeler of Canton; five great grandchildren, Natasha Marlette, Marriah Marlette, Caitlyn Wheeler, Benjamin Wheeler, and Abbi Wheeler; eight adopted grandchildren, Audrey Derenzy, Abbi Derenzy, Kaylyn Kinsel, Christopher Spahn, Kara Zuckerman, Sierra Logue, Jaden Hankins and Deb Fraizer; three step great grandchildren, Dakotah, Hannah and Alli Newton; and two brothers, Donnie (Reta) Shinn and Bob (Pauline) Shinn both of Abington.

Betty had worked at Vermont Foundry for 34 years, retiring in 1999.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton is in charge of arrangements.
