It is with great sadness for the Shinn Family to announce the passing of Bucky Shinn. He passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Bucky was born on September 29, 1936, in Camden, New Jersey to Charles and Clara Shinn.

Bucky graduated from Haddon High School in 1954 and then began his service in the United States Navy. During his naval career, Bucky was stationed in many different parts of the world and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He began his career in the Navy as an equipment operator and finished his career as a diver. He received numerous citations, honors and medals while serving his country. After retiring from the Navy, Bucky worked for the U.S. Postal Service and then started his own maintenance and repair business.

He has been described as being the best in all of us, generous, outspoken and tough. You always knew where you stood with him and he had a heart beyond compare. Bucky was always the first step up and help anyone in need. He was a very active person, always doing something. Bucky loved sports and played them a good part of his life. He truly enjoyed coaching kids in football and baseball and made a positive impact on some of their lives.

Bucky loved his family and will be missed by all of us. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shelley; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Glenn Miller; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jeannie Shinn and Paul and Laura Shinn; as well as beloved grandchildren, Kendra, Brittany, Jordan, Carlee and Jesse; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Dick Harris; nieces and nephew, Kimberly, Colleen, Hugh and their families.

Bucky will be laid to rest at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, under the shade of a beautiful tree where his family and friends can visit with him whenever they want.

In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for yourself or for someone in need by donating to your favorite charity .

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
