Bell M. Shimada worked for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at La Jolla, Ca on June 2 when he and a coworker boarded a plane in Tijuana for Mexico City to attend Inter-Ameican Tuna Commission. The plane crashed into a mountaintop and he and 44 other souls were killed. His name was at first listed as Mazauki (Bill) Shimada, but the official report corrected it to read Bell Masayuka Shimada.
He was married, but wife was listed as Mrs. Bell Shimada.
