Dessie Shields Bale, 87, of Summersville, Ky. died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, Ky.
Daughter of the late Lee Shields and Vera Vaughn Shields, she was born on Oct. 23, 1921, in Green County, Ky. She was a member of Aetna Grove Baptist Church and was homemaker.
She was married to Lawrence T. "Punk" Bale on Aug. 13, 1938. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2006.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mayola Bale of Summersville; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Glenn Craddock of Magnolia, Ky.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Duane and Monica Bale of Greensburg, Ky., Ricky and Lisa Craddock of Louisville, Ky. and Monisa and Terry Gardner of Campbellsville; six great-grandchildren, Cody Gardner, Skye Gardner, Korey Craddock, Jordan Craddock, Morgan Bale and Zach Bale; and a brother-in-law, Morris Price of Greensburg.
Funeral was Wednesday, July 1 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Aetna Grove Cemetery. Bros. Kelvin Edwards and Irvin Milby Jr. officiated.
Pallbearers were Duane Bale, Cody Gardner, Rick Craddock, Jordan Craddock, Korey Craddock, Zach Bale and Gene Vaughn.
