Gracie was the daughter of Polly Hakes and Charles W. Shetterly.

Obituary of Mrs. Almy, published in the Ionia Weekly Standard, Friday, February 10, 1911:

When his mother, who left his bedside and went to the barn to do to the chores, did not return Saturday night, the 10-year-old son of Mrs. Grace Almy of Danby township desperately ill with smallpox, arose, put on his clothes, and went out to search for her. He found her in a heap on the barn floor, nearly frozen and unable to speak. He ran to the house and called the neighbors by telephone and they hurried to his aid. The woman was carried into the house and a physician summoned, but she died of apoplexy before he arrived. The boy was put to bed, but it is feared that the little fellow has overtaxed his strength and that nothing can now save his life.
Mrs. Almy, who was 34 years of age, and her little son, lived alone on their farm in Danby township, three miles from Portland, and the mother has been keeping night and day vigil at the bedside of her boy, nursing him through a long siege of smallpox. It is thought that her close attention to her boy overtaxed the mother's strength and brought on apoplexy.
Grace was the daughter of Charles and Polly Shetterly.
She married Frank A. Hunt in Collins, on Sept 21, 1891. Their son, Lewis William Hunt was born on March 28, 1896. On December 9, 1903, Gracie married George O. Almy. George was the son of Sarah Briggs and George W. Almy.
Gracie's beloved son Lewis William Hunt died in Lansing, Michigan on August 8, 1950.
