US Congressman. He enlisted in the Union Army and served as Captain and commander of Company D, 88th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, until 1864. He moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1866, and served as a Brigadier General of Militia. He was elected to the United States Congress from Louisiana, and served from 1873 to 1875.
