Lois is survived by her children, Laurie (Jim) Jannasch and Alexis Beaver; grandchildren: Kelly (Casey) Melton, Kevin Jannasch, Konner Jannasch, Mary Beaver, Jamie Beaver, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alex; parents, John and Myrtle Shepley; and brother, Jack Shepley.
Born in Gary IN, Lois graduated from Horace Mann High School. She was a Girl Scout leader in the northwest Indiana area for many years and enjoyed helping girls shape their lives, and grow into young women. Lois worked at the Gary Sheet and Tin Credit Union before her retirement in 1988, and then moved to Carmel, IN to be closer to her family after the passing of her husband Alex (Red).
Lois had many passions in life, but they always centered around two things: her family, and sports. Lois played golf three times a week, and was a member of multiple women's golf leagues where she made many friends. She also loved bowling and was a long time Butler University basketball season ticket holder. She could often be seen wearing her Butler basketball garb, and loved traveling with the team to cheer them on.
Lois made many friends from all the various events she attended and was also active in the St. Luke's Singles group, organizing many dances and other functions. Though sports were always part of her life, Lois' family was her first love and always made sure she attended her grandchildren's functions as frequently as possible. She was the unequivocal matriarch of the family.
Rev. Michael Maginot officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery.
