Wayne Edwin Sheffer, 89, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at his home in Carlisle. He was born May 3, 1920 in Fairfield, PA to the late Stanley Sheffer and Alice Swope Sheffer. He was preceded in death by his wife and life partner Josephine in 2007. Mr. Sheffer moved to Largo, FL in 1982 after retiring as an electrician from Allis Chalmers, York, PA. He previously worked for over thirty years at International Paper in York Haven, PA and moved to Carlisle in 2005.
Mr. Sheffer is survived by a son, Keith E. Sheffer, and a daughter-in-law, Jody Sheffer of Carlisle, PA; two grandsons, Chad Sheffer of Baltimore, MD and Ryan Sheffer of Virginia Beach, VA; two great-grandchildren Avery and Colten Sheffer of Virginia Beach, VA; and a sister, Florence Snyder of York. Mr. Sheffer was a navy veteran of World War II and a member of Mt. Wolf VFW Post #2493.
A private ceremony to celebrate his life will be scheduled at a future date for family and guests. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to your local SPCA. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
