Kathleen (Sheehan) Grafe, of Newington, beloved wife of the late Durward H. Grafe for sixty-eight years, passed away on March 29, 2011.

She was born in Terryville, CT, the daughter of the late James and Clementine Sheehan, on March 15, 1913. She was predeceased by brothers James and George and sisters Clementine and Mary.

Kathleen graduated from New Britain High School and Moody's Secretarial School. Prior to moving to Forestville in 1967, she resided in New Britain, where she was a communicant at St. Maurice Church for thirty-one years.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Forestville, the St. Matthew's Ladies Guild, and the Bristol Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling, folk dancing, playing bridge, and reading.

Upon the death of her husband in 2004, Kathleen moved to Cedar Mountain Commons in Newington, where she made many new friends and participated in many activities.

Since July of 2010, she has been a resident of Jefferson House, where she received compassionate and loving care. Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother who treasured her family.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Jean Blake, of Wethersfield who will be forever grateful for her love and support. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two nieces and their husbands, Patricia and James Hatch of Montgomery Village, MD and Madonna and Robert Lutka of Torrington; as well as two great-nephews, Thomas and Charles Lutka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (April 2, 2011) at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Willard Avenue, Newington.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
