Livingston, Wis. - Leota was born in Livingston, Wis., to Simeon and May (Cornell) Shear.
She married Albert F. Church in Mason City, Iowa, on August 9, 1931. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa, in 1937. Leota operated the "Penguin," a Maid-Rite shop in 1946-1947, and worked at Hollanders' Variety Store and Grahms Department Store.
When Albert retired from Prudential Insurance Co. in 1976, the couple moved back to Mason City.
They were long-time members of the First Baptist Church, Mason City.
Leota moved to Omaha, Neb., in October, 2005.
Preceded in death by husband, Albert F.; son Allan F.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie; son Douglas L. Survived by son Bruce and wife Laura, of Richland Wash.; daughter, Susan and husband, Terry Culhane, of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Church; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service, Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 125 E. State St., Mason City.
