Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Lena (Flynn) Shaw.
Sandy graduated from Blessed Sacrament School, St. Xavier's High School and Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing. She devoted her adult life to the nursing profession, working at the Rhode Island Institute of Mental Health and Fatima Hospital and ultimately serving as a Nurse Manager for many years at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
We will remember Sandy for her boundless energy, her sharp wit and sense of humor, and her devotion to her family and friends. She loved to travel and to seek out new adventures, the crazier the better.
She is survived by her sister, Madeline Shaw of Providence; her three children, Philip Edwardo, III of West Palm Beach, Stephanie Huling of East Greenwich and Hollie Edwardo of Warwick and her grandchildren, Gabriella and Justin Edwardo and Leah, Cate and Maya Huling.
We want to extend our warmest thanks to the staff at The Classics of West Palm Beach - and especially to Reena, her devoted caregiver - for their superb care during these past few years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 1493 Cranston St., Cranston. Interment will be private.
We hope you will consider making a donation to your favorite charity in her memory. Information and condolences, please visit: www.galloglyfuneralhome.com
