Harry M. Shaeffer, 63, of 1120 14th Ave., where he resided and conducted the Shaeffer photographic studio, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home at 9:30 p.m. yesterday. He had been ill for some time but was able to continue in his profession.
He was born in Altoona, July 14, 1900, a son of Harry B. and Bertha (Reeder) Shaeffer, and married Alda Beatty of Altoona in the home of his sister, Helen Barbara Shaeffer Oesterle(Joseph) Oesterle, in Madison, Wis., Aug. 19, 1930
Surviving are his wife and sister, Helen, in Madison. Mr. Shaeffer was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, Elks and Charles R. Rowan Post; American Legion, having been a veteran of Army service in World War 1.
He was a member of the Professional Photographers Asociation of Pennsylvania, which he served as president in 1939, of the Tri-State Photographers Association, which he served as president in 1938, and of the American Society of Photographers and the Columbia University Alumni Association.
The Shaeffer Studio was establised in Altoona in 1910 by Harry B. Shaeffer and Harry M. joined his father in 1923, continuing since.
