Mrs. John Godfrey Dies This Morning
Death From Dropsy Occurs At Home South Of Liberty Center
Mrs. Catherine Lusetta Godfrey, 70, wife of John Godfrey, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning at her home two miles south and one and three-fourths miles west of Liberty Center. Death was attributed to dropsy. She had been ill for eight months.
Mrs. Godfrey was born in Chester township, Wells county, January 31, 1857, the daughter of Philip and Margaret Shadle. Her marriage to John Godfrey took place in 1884[sic 1882] in Chester township.
She was a member of the South Liberty church.
Surviving are the husband and four daughters, Nellie Godfrey, at home; Mrs. Ivan Jones, of Hartford City; Mrs. Grace Atkinson, of Waynesfield, O.; and Miss Gertrude Godfrey, of Richmond; one son, Arthur Godfrey, at home; five brothers, William, Newton, Eli, Samuel and Reason Shadle, all of Chester township; and one sister, Mrs. Frank Starr, of Chester township.
Three grandchildren also survive. They are Earl, Reta, and Ilene Atkinson.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the South Liberty church with Rev. J. D. McCorkle, of Alexander, officiating. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Montpelier.
