A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Edinburg Christian Church. Reverend Charles Wood will officiate.
A celebration of her life and sharing of memories will be held immediately following the service in the church Parish Hall.
Burial will be private in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, VA.
Dorothy was born December 24, 1924 in Alexandria, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late George and Dora Miller Shacklett.
During her career in Woodstock, she worked for Attorney Albert T. Mitchel, was secretary for the town of Woodstock and later worked at the Woodstock Presbyterian Church.
She was an avid bridge player, loved big band music. She was also famous for her "sugar cookies".
She was a member of the Edinburg Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard "Sonny" Shacklett.
She is survived by a daughter, Jan Lambert and son-in-law Richard "Doc" Lambert; two grandchildren, Miranda and Matthew Lambert; one great granddaughter, Isabelle Funkhouser; and nieces and a nephew.
She was previously married to John Conway Hutchinson.
Memorial donations may be made to the Edinburg Christian Church, 210 Center St. Edinburg, Virginia 22824.
Family and friends can call at the daughter's house at any time.
