He was married on June 25, 1899 in Wayne County to Mary Elizabeth Turman (1880- ), and she was the daughter of John Matthews Turman (1848–1967) and his wife Dorothy Ann (Sims) Turman (1854–1934).
A "wire chief" for a telephone company during the 1910 census, 9 years later he was a laundryman living at 1305 McGavock Street, Nashville, 46 years old and married when he died at home of the flu on May 15, 1919. Burial was the next day in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
