Dorothy Elizabeth Sennett Werder, 79, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at her home in Williamsport.

Born April 18, 1930 in Aliquippa, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Elizabeth Zollner Sennett and Thomas Gerard Sennett.

She graduated from Little Flower High School in Royal Oak, Mich., in 1948. She graduated from Trinity College, Washington, DC in 1952 with a degree in political science. She later attended Catholic University, where she completed extensive work studying piano.

She was a professional concert pianist, organist and master piano teacher. Dorothy dedicated her life to promoting the arts. For many years she taught piano privately in Maryland and West Virginia. She was co-founder of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. She performed at the Maryland Theatre and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

She was married to Dr Richard H Werder in 1962. In 1972 she relocated from Potomac Maryland to Williamsport, Md. to build her home on their beautiful farm, where she would raise her six children.

She was a member of St Augustine's Catholic Church in Williamsport.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dr Richard H Werder, son, Karl K Werder of Williamsport, son, David J Werder of Manassas, Va., and wife, Lillis, son, Nicholas and wife Maria Lynn of Hagerstown, daughter, Maria T Wolford and husband, Donald of Greencastle, daughter, Heidi E Strite and husband Charles of Williamsport, daughter, Johanna C Darr and husband Scott of Slippery Rock, Pa.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, John H Sennett and wife Diane of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and sister, Susan C Sennett Pooler of Orange Dale, Calif.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday at 10am at St Augustine's RomanCatholic Church, Williamsport, with Father Stephen Hook as celebrant. Interment in Manor Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8. The funeral home will be open after 9am Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Foundation Fund or to the Maryland Symphony Orchestra.
