Betty Dean Sellers Beck, 81, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at her residence. Betty was born October 17, 1929 to the late Issac and Pearl Deen Sellers in Appling County and had lived here most of her life. She was retired and has been employed by King Edward Cigar Company of Jacksonville, FL and Ship and Shore Manufactory of Baxley before her retirement. She was a member of Consolation Baptist Church. Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her husband, A. E. (Gene) Beck, a sister, Cornellia Roberson and three brothers, Cecil, Wilton and Gerald Sellers.

Survivors include two sisters, Wilma Rush of Jacksonville, FL and Linda (Billy) Altman of Baxley; two sisters-in-law, Fannie Sellers of Baxley and Collene Sellers of Brunswick; step-daughter, Mary Francis Guiton of Ackworth; three step-sons, Danny Eugene (Carol) Beck of Douglasville, John Robert (Wanda) Beck of Villa Rica and Roger Glen (Tammy) Beck of Blue Ridge; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayne Williamson and Paul Dubberly officiating. Interment followed in Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Mitch Altman, Jeff Altman, Seth Altman, Cole Altman, Cecil Sellers, Larry Rush, Urall Butler and Francisco Duran.

Honorary pallbearers were John Beck, Roger Beck, Danny Beck, Kendric Beck, the staff of Community Hospice, Henry Williamson, Don Rush, James Sellers, Warren McDaniel, Ira and Earlene Poole, Joe Sellers, Johnny Sellers, Mike Sellers, Joann Beecher, Janice Craven, Jerry and Cindy Tomberlin, Tim and Polly Flood, Drew and Brenda Ahl, Bill Crapps, Max and Sherry Tillman, Aubrey Thompson, Dorothy Dyal, Eloise Bullard, Linda Thornton, Nellie Pipkin, special care givers: Marjorie Baker, Pam Parker, Angela Ogletree, Rebecca Ogletree, Jennifer Martinez, Amanda Parker, Annie Taylor, Earlene Lightsey, Selena Carter, Lynn Daniels and Merlene Carter.

Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and David Williams.

Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
