Cecelia Gunn Seiler - SAVANNAH - Cecelia Gunn Seiler passed away Thursday, June 5th, after a lengthy illness. Born in Upatoi, GA, to Mary Charles and Cecil Gunn, she spent much of her childhood in Muscogee County. She graduated from Columbus High School. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia before transferring to the University of Georgia, where she pledged Chi Omega sorority. It was there she would meet her future husband, Frank W. Sonny Seiler. The couple would be given a solid white English bulldog puppy as a wedding gift. They named him UGA, and the University of Georgia Mascot dynasty would begin. Cecelia would lovingly raise and care for eight generations of the beloved dogs for over fifty-five years. After moving to Savannah following college, Cecelia worked for Savannah Bank. She later would work with Convention Consultants welcoming hundreds of visitors to the city each year. She was a member of the Junior League of Savannah, active in Children's Theatre, the Girl Scout Council of Savannah, the United Community Appeal, the Candler Hospital Pink Ladies, and served as President of the YWCA during its merger to the YWCO in the late 1960's. As a member of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, she was a former Sunday school teacher and in later years enjoyed caring for the Alter Linens. She enjoyed travel, her porch at Tybee, reading, needlepoint, football Saturdays, gourmet cooking and holidays with her family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank W. Sonny Seiler, four children, Cecelia Swann Seiler and Charles Wilkins Seiler (Wendy) of Savannah, Bess Seiler Thompson (Shannon) of St. Simons Island, GA, and Sara Seiler Story (Todd) of Athens, GA. Funeral to be held Monday 11:00am at The Lutheran Church of the Ascension on Wright Square, burial to follow, Greenwich Section of Bonaventure.
