Barbara Seeley Hallen was born in Los Angeles, the granddaughter of B.F. Coulter, founder of Coulter's Dept. Store on Wilshire Blvd. She married Milton "Hal" Hallen in 1943 as he prepared to go overseas.

When Hal returned from WWII, the couple moved to San Diego with Brad, the first of four children. Daughters Gina, Tina and Lisa followed.

Barbara was a founding parishioner in 1948 at All Souls' Episcopal where she launched the still-thriving Annual Home Tour. She was also an active volunteer with the Junior League, The Children's Hospital Fair, MADCAPS and Meals on Wheels. Barbara and Del Burnham White opened Jennings House, a Pt. Loma landmark, in 1963.

An active handcrafter, Barbara and Hal also built or restored over 17 homes in the County. Barbara spent her final years in the loving care of St. Paul's Senior Homes. Three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive her.

Services will be held on January 5, 2013, at All Souls' Church, 1475 Catalina Blvd., San Diego, at 11am with interment following at the Columbarium where she will join Hal and Gina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Senior Homes or All Souls' Church. Published in San Diego Union-Tribune on December 30, 2012
