Second child and oldest daughter of Rev Jonathan Scott and his first wife Lucy. She was the widow of Captain Ebenezer Ellis and the mother of their five children Ebenezer Ellis, Lydia Ellis, Jonathan Scott Ellis, Gideon Ellis, and John Ellis. Captain Ellis was lost at sea in 1799 off Nantucket Shoals. Lydia married Davis Verrill on December 20, 1804. She was the mother of Elizabeth Verrill, Davis Ellis Verrill, and Sophronia Verrill.
