Teresa Fitzgerald Scieszinski, daughter of Michael and Hannah Barron Fitzgerald, was born on a farm north of Weller, April 12, 1882, and passed away after an extended illness on Oct. 27, 1957, at Mercy hospital in Des Moines at the age of 75 years, six months and 15 days. .


She was united in marriage Feb. 9, 1904 to William S. Scieszinski at St. Mary's church, Waller by the Rev. T. J. Brownrigg. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Feb., 9, 1954. They were the parents of ten children. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, three sons and five daughters, Michael and William of Janesville, Wisc., Maurice of Melrose; Bernice McCarty of Georgetown, Regina Roach of Russell, Mary, Helen and Grace Scieszinski of Des Moines; nine granddaughters and seven grandsons, Marleen, Mary, Ellen, Carole, Susan, Colleen, Diane and Bette Scieszinski; James, Larry and Donnie McCarty, Terry, Billy and Michael Scieszinski and Dennis Roach; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Scieszinski of Melrose, Mrs. Margaret Manley of Des Moines and Mrs. Hannah Kelleher of Albia and John Arthur Scieszinski of Janesville, Wise., a nephew who lived in her home for many years. .


She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Francis, a daughter, Teresa, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s church, Melrose, at 10 a.m. on Oct. 30, 1957, where a solemn high Mass of Requiem was offered by the Rev. J. Morrissey, Celebrant, the Rev. Harry Ryan, Deacon and the Rev. J. A. Hebenstreit, Sub-Deacon. Acolytes were James and Larry McCarty, her grandsons and Johnny Golob. Burial was made at Mt. Calvary cemetery, Melrose. Pallbearers were her nephews, John Kelleher, Patrick O’Brien, Thomas Scieszinski, John Manley, J. Carl Scieszinski and James Scieszinski.
