Gordon L. Schultz, 75, of Ludington, Michigan, passed away on Saturday April 7 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon.


He was born on May 28, 1931 in Custer Township, the son of the late Albert and Hilma (Boeder) Schultz. Gordon graduated from Custer High School in 1949. On July 20, 1950 Gordon enlisted in the United States Navy until being honorably discharged on May 19, 1954.


Gordon married Mary Ohse on March 26, 1955 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Schoenherr Road in Custer. He worked as the personnel manager at Harbison Walker for 37 years. Gordon will be remembered as an involved family man, whose sense of humor carried him through life's daily offerings.


He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Scottville and the Danish Brotherhood in Ludington. Gordon was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed playing set-back with his many friends, played fast pitch softball in Mason County, and was considered by many as a feisty catcher. He was also an inductee of the Mason County Softball Hall Of Fame.


Gordon is survived by his wife of 52 years:, Mary Schultz of Ludington; three sons, Robert (Terri) Schultz of Scottville, Brian (Gerri) Schultz of Ludington, Bruce Schultz of Ludington; four grandchildren, Rachelle Swider, Brian, Bré, and Katlin Schultz; sister, Lila Talsma of Scottville; five brothers-in-law, James Osborne of Scottville, Norman (Ella) Sommerfeldt of Custer, Herbert (Doris) Schaner of Fountain, Robert (Carla) Ohse of Custer, William (Claudette) Ohse of Largo, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Emma Goosen of Hart, Eda Mahn of Jonesboro, Ga.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Osborne; brother, Albert Schultz; four brothers-in-law, Merlyn Talsma, August Ohse, Richard Mahn, John Goosen.


Funeral service for Gordon will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday April 11 at Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Mark Rosenberg officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday April 10, from 7 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville.
