Mr. Schroeder was born October 6, 1918, at Colome, South Dakota, the son of John and Anna Schroeder. He was raised and educated in South Dakota, later moving as a young man to Idaho where he settled in the Caldwell/Nampa area. He married Betty Garlick May 22, 1941, at Caldwell. Mr. Schroeder served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. After his honorable discharge he began working for the John Deere Tractor Co. in both Meridian and Jerome. He later owned and operated Lake Lowell Service Station. After that he farmed in the Caldwell area until his retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, baseball, and traveling. One of Mr. Schroeder's favorite pastimes was watching his grandkids' sporting events. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caldwell.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Schroeder of Caldwell; a son and daughter-in-law of Caldwell; a daughter of Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law of Wasilla, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; two sisters: Gertrude Phillips of Reno and Mary Ann Lamb of Wapato, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents.
