Andrew B. Schreuder, the well known silversmith, died early yesterday morning at his home, No. 1032 South Salina street, paralysis being the cause of death.
Mr. Schreuder was born in the city of Bergen, Norway, on September 11, 1828. At the age of 14 he entered his father's shop, where he spent six years learning the jewely trade. He came to this country n 1849 and settled in Utica, where he secured a position as a silversmith. He came to this city two years later and became a member of the arm of Hotchkiss & Schreuder. Shortly afterward Ms. Hotchkiss retired and the business was carried on by Mr. Schreuder until seven years ago, when he sold out and retired.
Mr. Schreuder was actively identified with church work and has held the position of deacon at the First Baptist Church for the past forty years. He was married to Miss Ellen Martin on June 17, 1865, who with two daughters, Mrs. W.C.P. Rhoades of Brooklyn, Mrs. Irving C. Ranklin of Akron, Ohio, and two sons, Otto P.
