Doris Jean Wright Schneider, a long time resident of Alice, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 26, 1930 in Oneida, Tennessee to the late Clifford Winfield Wright and Sarah Louise Gosney Wright.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Gentry and Sue Sexton, and an infant brother, Charles Denton Wright.

Doris grew up in Oneida, Tennessee where her parents owned and operated the Scott County Newspaper. She graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1951. Doris taught school for 2 years in Oneida and then moved to Alice for a teaching position in 1953. Doris married Alfred Schneider on 11 March 1955. They had four boys together. She was employed with the Alice Independent School District for 36 years before retiring. She spent her life devoted to her family and friends. Her good-nature and sense of humor shone through in all that she did.
