MRS. MARY ELIZABETH SAYLOR BLANTON, AGE 90 OF TURKEYTOWN ROAD, CRAB ORCHARD, KENTUCKY PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 2003 AT THE FORT LOGAN EXTENDED CARE IN STANFORD, KENTUCKY. SHE WAS THE WIDOW OF WILLIAM J. BLANTON WHO PRECEDED HER ON MARCH 15, 1987.

MARY WAS BORN JULY 16, 1912 in LINCOLN COUNTY, KENTUCKY. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF JOSEPH FRANKLIN SAYLOR AND MARTHA FLETCHER/HOUNCHELL SAYLOR.

She married 'Willy J" while he took work at Gardner & Harvey Paper Company away from family farm in Crab Orchard. He met Mary and fell in love in Middletown, Ohio when he was 19. Willy J asked Mary's father Joe to marry his 17 year old daughter. Her father agreed if his daughter could first finish High School where she graduated from Middletown High School in Middletown, OHIO in 1930. They were married in Ohio on August 9, 1930. After the death of their first son Marvin J. Blanton January 22, 1933 - January 27, 1933 in Ohio, They both moved to their final home they built on family farm on Turkeytown Road owned by Mary Alabam Coldiron Blanton and Mattison Sydney (M.S.) Blanton farm in Crab Orchard, KY. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE THE WATTS CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH. They had a wonderful marriage until her beloved husband passed away from his battle with stomach cancer. Her brother in law "Uncle George" moved in from the original home where he and his siblings grew up on the property and lived with Mary until he lost his battle with Parkinson's in 1997.

Mary aka MAMAW, was a beloved woman, a beautiful soul inside and outside, as was her husband.I have been told on my visits to the farm that I would never hear a bad thing about my great grandparents. They were kind, loving, and beautiful souls that everyone thought highly of. They had a very happy marriage full of love. I will continue to cherish their memory till my final days.

Mamaw loved letters, photographs, the celebrations and roasts on the farm, seeing her 'grandbabies', her faith, and making the best breakfasts when family arrived. (Amongst many other things) She was a kind and gentle woman with a memory to be cherished. We all love and miss her and wish to keep her memory sacred.

I was thinking of Mamaw this New Years and called my Papaw not knowing it would be the last time I'd hear from him. I am glad I called. I know you two are together now. I will be down this week.
