Peggy J. Beck, 73 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following an illness. She was born September 16, 1940 in Artesia, NM to the home of Frank and Dorothy (Melton) Savoie. She attended and graduated from Artesia High School in 1958. Peggy married Buckie Bruce Beck on September 19, 1964 in Artesia, NM. That same year they made their home in Yeso, NM until 1974 when they moved to Fort Sumner.
Peggy was a member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner, she participated in the Fort Sumner Bowling Leagues for many years, was a P.T.A. mother, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She enjoyed puzzle books, reading, cooking, baking and she loved to dance. She was called "BB" by her grandchildren and her favorite past time with them was playing computer games.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband Buckie Beck in 2000, her parents, a sister Janice Sanders, and two brothers Marshall Savoie and Frankie Savoie.
She is survived by two daughters, Denise Kristine Beck and Jodie Beth Jacks both of Fort Sumner, a nephew she raised Lindsey Beck of Amarillo, TX, four grandchildren Lacey Kristine Jowers and her husband Lance of Fluvanna, TX, Sierra Jordan Jacks, Cameron Buckie Jacks, and Matthew Chase Gonzales all of Fort Sumner. Also surviving is a brother Danny Savoie of Odessa, TX, a sister Evelyn Howard and her husband Dwayne of Roswell, a brother in law Michael Sanders of Artesia, several nieces and nephews including Kathy Gordon of Pampa, Texas along with a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, May 17, 2014 at The Church on The Hill, 25203 U.S. Highway 84, Fort Sumner, NM with Pastor Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow in the Beck family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery.
