Funeral services for Leona Satterfield, age 84, of Wagoner, were held at 1pm Saturday, November 21, 1998, at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Zellmer officiating. Interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Leona was born on January 12, 1914 to Felix Frosty and Leota (Harper) Reese, Sr., in Muskogee County, she died Thursday, November 19, 1998 at Muskogee Regional Hospital. Leona moved here from California and has been a resident of the Wagoner community for the past 52 years. She married Howard Satterfield in Muskogee, Oklahoma on February 27, 1933. They were married for over 40 years before his death in 1973. She enjoyed her grandchildren and helping her neighbors. She was an outdoors type of person and she had the nickname of “Bean”, which was given to her by her family. She was chosen as the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center Valentine Queen in 1997.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Felix, Jr. and Franklin Reese; three sisters, Mickie Buckley, Beth Ann Guthrie and Mary Wynona Reese. Her survivors include two daughters, Wanda Stacy and her husband Frank, and Judy Schroyer, all of Wagoner; two sisters, Josephine “Jo” Turner of Wagoner and Jane Bennett of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Jill Zellmer, Vicki Hemphill, Howard Wright, Harold Wright and Lance Schroyer; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
