FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. J.D. BATES
Mrs. J.D. Bates 47, of Broken Bow died Saturday evening in the McCurtain County hospital following an illness of several years duration.
Born December 5, 1908 in Mena, Arkansas, Mrs. Bates had resided in Broken Bow since 1948. She previously resided in Tyler, Texas. She was a member of the Baptist church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the First Baptist church with Rev. Forrest Wicks, pastor, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Lovelace.
Interment was in the Broken Bow cemetery under the direction of the Coffey funeral home.
Surviving are her husband, James D. Bates; four sons, Eugene Bearden, La Porte, Texas, Bobby Joe Bearden, Broken Bow, Henry Odell Bates and James Allen Bates, both of Broken Bow; one daughter, Mrs. Bernie Clegg of Sunflower,
Kansas; her mother, Mrs. Alice Sanders of Tyler, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Zelma Dean and Miss Virginia Sanders, both of Tyler, Texas and Mrs. Irvin Wilson of Sweet Home, Oregon; four brothers, Clarence Sanders of West Paducah, Kentucky, Elmer Sanders of Tyler, Texas and Henry Sanders of Glover and O.O. Cornelius of Sterling, Louisiana; and two grandchildren.
